Summer Reading: Zoo
We are tired from our Fourth of July weekend but still excited for ZOO WEEK! It is going to be another hot week here, so I will be grabbing these indoor activities often! We are also hoping to make our very first zoo trip this week!

Animal Sorting
Zoo Bath
Threw some of our animals in the water table outside with soap, wash cloths and scrub brushes!
Scissor Practice Lion Mask
Really simple and great cutting practice! I drew a line around the edge of a paper plate and straight lines on colored paper where I wanted the kids to cut! They painted the outer edge of the plate and let it dry. Then, we glued the colored paper around the edge of the plate to make a mask!
Lion Playdough
Zoo Snack
We made out favorite playdough recipe again! I added beads, feathers, pipe cleaners and playdough tools to our tray to create lion faces!
Zoo Snack
Pretzels, animal crackers and a cute book make for a fun snack time!
Flamingo Craft
We adore this book, it is so beautiful! This is another simple paper plate craft. The kids can paint an entire plate pink and when it dries, cut it in half! One half creates the body of the flamingo and the other can be cut again around the edge to create the neck! The accordion-folded legs were fun for the kids to work on too!
Zoo Shapes
A fun outdoor idea! Just using sidewalk chalk, draw shapes (or letters, numbers, patterns) and have the kids use their zoo animals to create the outline!
Zoo Alphabet Sensory Bin
I placed upper and lowercase letters into a sensory bin and the zoo animals around the edge. The kids can dig around to find the letters and match them with the beginning sound for each animal!
We hope everyone is staying busy and healthy! You can always find our Summer Reading Plan printable here! Have a great week!
